Like the uncommon A2 predecessor the new semi-auto A3 M1 variant has the option of converting between the rail and a fixed optic. Two rail lengths, 11 slot (Short Rail) and 16 slot (High Rail), are available and optics in either 1.5x or 3x magnification. The rails and optics are mounted via three screws from the underside.
Current stock options include stocks in black, olive drab, and the recently introduced Mud color. White AUG’s may be available as soon as January. There are also NATO stocks, which utilize the STANAG magazines, but are available in black only.
The 16 inch chrome-lined heavy barrels are six groove right-hand 1:9 twist. Magazines are available in 10, 30, and 42 round capacities, it is unknown if floor plates will be available in the mud or white colors, I’m not holding my breath but it isn’t important.
The MSRP is $2,099 for the rifle with either length of rail, the 1.5x optic version is $2,499 and the 3x is $2,599. Pricing and availability of extra rails and optics is not yet known.
Below is a white AUG shown at the Steyr 150th Anniversary booth at SHOW Show 2014. Note the alternate accessory rail instead of the folding forward grip.
