News media, being hoplophobes themselves, has helped perpetuate the idea that a firearm can suddenly go off without a trigger pull. Here is Remington’s response to the slash job CNBC did on them in regard to the safety of the model 700 bolt action rifle. They use a few subjective words I wish they hadn’t, in cases when they should have given specific numbers, but overall it was a decent rebuttal.
