Czech Vz.52 Field Strip

While at the range, before the snow came down, we took a moment to show how the field strip of the Vzor 52 pistol works.

While it may weaken and bend the magazine floorplate eventually, it was designed to aid in removing the barrel from the slide. I refer to this as “meta takedown”, when we use only an ammunition cartridge and the pieces of the firearm to disassemble itself. I’m using meta here as “self-referential” – my older friends have sometimes said “like a Johnson”, referring to the same disassembly style used by the contender in WWII.
