Earlier this summer Smith & Wesson announced it was dropping Walther from importation and as I recall was also dropping the licensing to manufacture the PPKS series in the US. As a user on the Walther Forums pointed out, if this happens then no one will be making the original PPK series anymore (off-topic, I always wanted one of the compact PP series in .22LR).
Now S&W Holdings have sold off part of the company: Smith & Wesson Security Solutions Assets. Their stock is doing well so I don’t view any of this as negative news but they are obviously making big changes for a reason.
