Firearm sales are up over 40% in Colorado since the Aurora shooting. This shouldn’t be surprising to any dealers or gun store salesclerks. This has been true of past shootings and, a little disturbingly, direct sales of weapons used often increases as well.
Nationally, gun sales are comparatively slow in summer months; 2,887 approvals in a weekend is marginal compared to the holiday season.
On a lighter note, Christian Bale has visited the shooting victims in the hospital. He also stopped by the memorial just outside the location of the shooting. He apparently went on his own dime and asked to meet with victims and first responders but asked that the media not be contacted.
